Amish White Bread

Never fail recipe


  1. 2 cup warm water
  2. 2/3 cup white sugar
  3. 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
  4. 1 1/2 tsp salt
  5. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  6. 6 cup bread flour


  1. Dissolve sugar in warm water
  2. Stir in yeast
  3. Proof until mixture resembles creamy foam
  4. Add salt and oil stir
  5. Stir in bread flour a cup at a time
  6. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth
  7. Allow to rise in oiled bowl at least one hour covered with cloth
  8. Punch down knead on lightly floured surface for 1 minute
  9. Divide dough into loaves place in well oiled loave pans
  10. Allow to rise at least 30 minutes or until desired size no more than an hour
  11. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
  12. Cool in pan 15 minutes remove from pan and cool for 1 to 2 hours before slicing
