Apple-Glazed Beef Brisket

  1. 1 (2 1/2 – 3 lb) beef brisket trimmed
  2. 1 tsp onion salt
  3. 2 cloves garlic cut in halves
  4. 10 whole cloves
  5. 1 1/4 cups apple jelly
  6. 1/3 cup dry white wine or white wine vinegar
  7. 3 tbsp brown mustard
  8. 3/4 tsp pepper
  9. 3/4 tsp curry powder
  10. 1/2 tsp onion salt
  1. Sprinkle both sides of brisket with the 1 tsp onion salt amp place in Dutch oven Add garlic amp cloves Add just enough water to cover beef
  2. Bring beef mixture to a boil Reduce heat to low Simmer until beef is tender about 2 1/2 to 3 hours Drain Discard garlic amp cloves Return beef to Dutch oven
  3. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  4. In a small saucepan combine apple jelly wine brown mustard pepper curry powder amp 1/2 tsp onion salt Mix well Bring to a boil over medium-high heat stirring frequently Brush beef with glaze
  5. Bake beef basting frequently with apple glaze for 45 minutes Cool slightly Transfer to platter Slice amp serve
