Corned beef and cabbage

Not quite fond of corned beef until I cooked it for an entire day in crock pot. Absolutely tender and delicious. The tasty cabbage is a perfect complement for it.

  1. 1 roast
  2. 1 small onion
  3. 1 tbsp beef base(I used Tones beef base)
  4. 1 packages seasoning(I used the seasoning that came with the corned beef)
  5. 1 head cabbage
  6. 1 lb bacon
  7. 1/2 cup water
  8. 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  1. Place roast in crock pot
  2. Mix beef base with water Sprinkle seasons on roast and add base
  3. Turn crock pot on low heat (I put mine on for 10 hours)
  4. After it was done I put it on for another 10 hours
  5. Once it was done I left the crock pot on warm and started the cabbage At this point put your oven on 350°
  6. Cut the cabbage in small pieces and place them in water to get soft Almost like a tender crisp About 25-30 minutes Set your burner between med and hi heat
  7. Cut your bacon in one inch squares place on baking sheet and put in oven till just cooked
  8. Cabbage should be perfect Drain water Take bacon out of oven and put the cabbage on pan with bacon and drippings Stir making sure everything is combined Add your vinegar Stir again
  9. Bake for another 30 -45 minutes
