Golden Sweet Corn Bread

My mom made the best corn bread. I worked on this recipe to get it as close as I possibly could to hers, without her actual recipe. My family loves this.


  1. 2 Cups Flour
  2. 2 Cups Corn Meal
  3. 2/3 Cup White Sugar
  4. 2/3 Cup Brown Sugar
  5. 2 teaspoons Sea Salt
  6. 7 teaspoons Baking Powder
  7. 2 Large Eggs
  8. 2 Cups Milk
  9. 2/3 Cups Unsalted Butter room temperature


  1. Preheat oven to 400*F
  2. Grease 9 baking dish
  3. Combine flour corn meal sugars salt and baking powder
  4. Cut in butter
  5. Completely mix in milk and eggs
  6. Allow batter to sit for about 20 minutes (This is important for flavor and moisture)
  7. Stir Scrape into prepared baking dish
  8. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes Until golden brown and knife inserted in the center comes out clean
  9. Remove from oven Serve hot or allow to cool
