Homemade Lentil Soup :Adas Bi Hamod

This famous Lebanese soup is a heaven for vegetarians! It is rich and can stand alone as a main dish.


  1. 1/2 cup yellow lentils
  2. 1/2 kg mangold leaves separated from stalk and cut thin
  3. 3 carrots chopped into small pieces
  4. 1 large onions cut into thin slices
  5. 3 cloves garlic cruched with mortar
  6. 1 juice of 1 lemon
  7. 1/4 cup olive oil
  8. 1 1/2 liters water
  9. 1/2 tablespoons dried mint
  10. salt coarse


  1. Fry the onion in oil medium fire for 5 mins
  2. Add lentils mangold carrots salt and water let boil for 20mins
  3. Add the crushed garlic and mint and keep boiling for 5 minutes
  4. Once done add the lemon juice and serve
