Sourdough Bread 4-H Champion

wanted a good homemade sourdough recipe, found this one online before you could even print recipes off the internet.

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cup Sourdough Starter
  2. 2/3 cup scant water or buttermilk
  3. 3 tbsp sugar
  4. 1 tbsp salt
  5. 2 1/4 tbsp butter melted
  6. 4 to 5 C flour

Method

  1. mix starter water sugar butter Add 2 1/2 C flour and beat til smooth If use buttermilk add 2 tbsp water as well at this point add in 2 1/4 C flour and salt to make a sift dough knead til dough isnt sticky adding flour if necessary
  2. Place in large bowl and let rise til doubled punch down
  3. Divide into two loaf pans and let rise until just over the top of the loaf pan
  4. bake at 350 for 35-45 min Brush with butter after it comes out of the oven
