Stale Bread Au Gratin


  1. 28 slice Baguette bread
  2. 1 stick Butter
  3. 1/4 cup Flour
  4. 2 cup Milk
  5. 2 cup Cheddar cheese
  6. 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  7. 1/3 cup Crumbled bacon
  8. 1 tsp Dried parsley


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. Change Slice your bread or cube them Just be sure they are thin enough to absorb the sauce
  3. Change Place in layers in a large casserole dish
  4. Change In a medium sauce pot melt the butter Add the flour and whisk well
  5. Change Once the butter and flour is blended and creamy looking gradually whisk in the 2 cups of milk You know its ready once tiny bubbles have formed along the pot
  6. Change Then add the cheddar cheese I like to save a bit for the top of the casserole Whisk till all the cheese is melted
  7. Change Next add the Parmesan Cheese Whisk till melted and creamy
  8. Change Pour the sauce over the bread in the casserole dish taking care to cover each slice
  9. Change Top the slices with the bacon crumbles and dried parsley Cover the casserole dish with aluminum
  10. Place in the oven for 15 minutes
  11. Change Remove aluminum and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes
  12. Change Pull from oven and allow to sit for 5 minutes Then enjoy!
