WendyG's take on Wine-Braised Beef Short Ribs

Much easier in the crock pot fir folks who work all day. You cone home to a nice warm meal at the end of a long day.

  1. 3 lb bone-in beef short ribs (have the butcher cut them crosswise into 2 quot pieces)
  2. Salt and freshly ground pepper
  3. 3 tbsp olive oil
  4. 2 onions chopped
  5. 2 carrots cut to sticks
  6. 2 celery stalks cut to sticks
  7. 1 small bag new potatoes
  8. 1 small can tomato sauce
  9. 4 c dry red wine
  10. 1 bay leaf
  11. 2 tsp dried thyme
  12. 1 garlic head halved cross-wise (unpeeled)
  13. 4 c beef stock
  1. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper Brown them in skillet then place in crock pot
  2. Add the onions carrots and celery to the crock pot
  3. Add all herb
  4. Add all the herbs and garlic along with wine and stock to crock pot
  5. Set crock pot to high for 6 and 1/2 hours
  6. Serve on platter with veggies Alternatively you can shred the meat and serve over egg noodles or papparadelle
